Vaishno Devi Yatra Total Length
The Vaishno Devi Yatra spans a total length of approximately 13.5 km from Katra to the Bhairo Bab. This distance includes all major stops such as Charanpaduka, Ardhkuwari, Bhawan and Bhairo Baba. Pilgrims can traverse this distance on foot, by pony, palki, or through battery-operated vehicles up to certain points.
Vaishno Devi Charanpaduka Darshan Timings
Charanpaduka, located approximately 1.5 km from Katra, is a sacred site where devotees believe Mata Vaishno Devi rested and left her footprints. This spot holds immense significance and is the first major stop for many pilgrims on their way to Bhawan.
- Darshan Timings: Charanpaduka is open 24 hours a day for darshan. However, the best time to visit is early morning between 07:30 AM to 06:30 PM (Morning) and 07:30 PM to 05:30 AM (Evening) to avoid crowds and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere.

Ardhkuwari, situated almost halfway or 06 km from Katra which is another vital stop on the yatra. The sacred Garbha Joon cave here is believed to be the place where Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for nine months.
- Darshan Timings: The Ardhkuwari cave remains open from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM (Morning) and 08:30 PM to 04:30 AM (Evening). Entry is regulated in batches, and token numbers are issued to maintain order.
- Token System: Pilgrims need to collect a token from the Ardhkuwari Darshan counter. The token system helps manage the large influx of devotees efficiently.
